Artificial Intelligence has become an essential resource in the daily routine of programmers and designers. Its expansion has been exponential, improving processes and fostering creativity. In this post, we will explore how AI is transforming development and design, highlight key tools for 2025, and analyze whether we are facing a radical change or a passing trend.
Introduction
If you work in development or design, you have probably already experimented with AI tools. According to recent studies, 90% of developers and designers1 use them regularly. It is also estimated that around 77% of companies2 already use or are exploring AI in their businesses.
But the big question is: Are we witnessing a real evolution in the way we work, or are we simply leveraging a new technology without changing the essence of our work?
1. How AI is Changing Development and Design
Artificial Intelligence is not only making repetitive tasks easier but also enhancing quality and efficiency in work. Some examples of its impact in the development and design field are:
In Development:
Tools like ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Claude, DeepSeek, v0, Relume help programmers not only generate code from scratch but also:
- Optimize data structures and automate repetitive tasks.
- Improve code quality through suggestions and error detection.
- Generate documentation, commit messages, and PR descriptions.
- Create and execute automated tests to validate software functionality.
- Explain complex code and suggest refactoring to optimize performance.
- Recommend appropriate design patterns and integrate external APIs.
In Design:
Tools like Adobe Sensei, Canva AI, Khroma, Uizard, Galileo AI, Builder.io, Figma AI, and Framer AI enable:
- Transforming ideas into visual interfaces without starting from scratch.
- Easily converting sketches into functional interfaces with AI.
- Generating optimized user interfaces.
- Designing and developing websites without needing to code.
- Creating interactive designs and dynamic prototypes with AI.
A Trend or a Definitive Transformation?
Far from being just a trend, AI has proven to be a competitive advantage for those who adopt it.
“AI will not replace people, but those who use AI will replace those who don’t.”3
2. Key Tools for 2025
The following tools help optimize workflow, accelerate production, and enhance creativity. Some key tools that will trend this year are:
For Development
- Language Models (LLMs): ChatGPT, DeepSeek, Gemini.
- These AI models are trained to provide assistance in coding, debugging, and generating technical content. They are ideal for improving productivity in software development, answering technical questions, and optimizing solutions.
- Other alternatives: Continue, Ollama, Claude offer open-source and commercial alternatives that provide customizable models for development environments.
- Code Editors with Integrated AI: Cursor, Bolt.
- These code editors incorporate AI to facilitate writing, refactoring, and optimizing code in real-time, providing intelligent recommendations and predictions based on code patterns.
- Other alternatives: Trae, Qwen, Qodo, GitHub Copilot, AWS Whisperer, Codeium, GitHub Copilot… Platforms with similar capabilities integrating AI models to enhance the development experience.
For Design
UI + Code Generation: V0, Relume, Bolt
These tools allow complete interface generation with code based on reusable components. They are ideal for designers and developers looking to speed up interface production without compromising code quality.
- Other alternatives: Builder.io, UX Pilot, Framer AI, Uizard, Galileo AI, Figma AI, Khroma, and more.
Wireframe and Prototype Generation: Uizard, Galileo AI, Figma AI.
AI-powered tools that allow automated wireframe and prototype creation, simplifying the initial design phase and idea validation.
- Other alternatives: Wireframe Designer is a lightweight and straightforward tool for quick wireframe creation.
Design Assistant: Musho AI.
An assistant that helps improve designs with intelligent suggestions and automation of repetitive tasks.
- Other alternatives: Khroma specializes in AI-generated color palettes, ideal for designers seeking personalized color harmonies.
For General Tasks
Searches and Research: Perplexity, Gemini Deep Research, Notebook LLM.
These tools utilize artificial intelligence to enhance search and information retrieval.
- Perplexity: An AI-powered search engine that provides precise answers and verified sources in real time.
- Gemini Deep Research: Powered by Google, it offers advanced capabilities for information analysis and synthesis.
- Notebook LLM: An AI assistant designed to organize information in research notebooks, ideal for academics and professionals.
AI Assistant: Google AI Studio, ChatGPT Operator.
- Google AI Studio: A development environment where you can test and optimize Google’s AI models, ideal for creating chatbots and intelligent applications.
- ChatGPT Operator: A tool that allows integrating ChatGPT AI into workflows and customized systems to automate responses and repetitive tasks but it is only available on U.S. for now.
Meeting Assistant: Otter.
An AI-powered transcription and meeting summary tool, ideal for taking notes in video calls on Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams.
- Other alternatives: Fireflies is similar and offers more functions and integrations at a higher price.
Niche Assistants/Specific Tasks: Custom GPTs.
These are customized versions of ChatGPT designed to meet specific objectives through advanced configurations. Custom GPTs can be created for tasks such as customer service, content generation, data analysis, and more advantages:
- Full customization with specific instructions and data.
- Integrations with third-party tools through programmed actions.
- Optimized usage for niches like law, medicine, finance, or web development.
- You can use an existing Custom GPT or create one tailored to your needs.
💡 Tip: Create Your Own Custom GPT from a Conversation Many times, when using ChatGPT, we ask multiple questions until we refine the ideal response. And not just in one conversation but multiple times. Instead of repeating this process every time, you can ask ChatGPT to generate base instructions to turn that conversation into a Custom GPT.
How to do it: 1. When you get a response you like, ask:👉 “Give me base instructions to turn this into a Custom GPT that responds this way.” 2. ChatGPT will provide guidelines that you can copy and adjust. 3. Then, in ChatGPT Custom GPTs, you can create an assistant that always responds in that style or approach.
✨ Advantage: Saves time and optimizes personalized responses without repeating the same process every time. Super useful for recurring tasks! 🚀
Extra: ChatGPT Projects
A new feature that allows grouping files and conversations in one place, making long-term project organization easier. Ideal for:
- Managing extensive research with multiple AI queries.
- Saving files and chats related to the same topic or client.
- Maintaining customized instructions for different projects.
💡 Tip: Better Responses in ChatGPT Projects In ChatGPT’s personalized projects, we can add files as a local knowledge base. This allows the assistant to access specific information without needing to search the web. We can also configure custom instructions, defining tone, response style, and prior assistant knowledge usage to better adapt it to our needs. This is useful for projects requiring responses based on internal documentation, specific procedures, or private data.
3. Does AI Replace Us or Make Us More Productive?
While AI is a powerful tool, it still has limitations that must be considered:
- It cannot match human creativity and critical thinking.45
- Still faces challenges in deep contextual understanding. It can make mistakes, so expert supervision is required.67
- Its reliance on previous data can introduce biases. 8910
More than a replacement, AI should be seen as a tool that enhances our capabilities, allowing us to focus on what truly matters: strategy, innovation, and creativity.
AI: Ally or Inevitable Challenge?
There is no doubt that AI is revolutionizing the way we work. Its impact extends to almost all industries, and its permanence is undeniable. However, its true potential lies in how we combine it with our experience and skills.
In upcoming posts, we will explore:
